Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of church is FCC?

FCC desires to be a church where people can experience authentic relationships with God and each other. We are a church where people are encouraged to be themselves, and to be real, without having to worry about being accepted or rejected. We are a church that is conservative in theology, emphasizing the Bible as the Word of God, and Jesus as the Way, Truth, and Life. FCC would fit into the stream of Christianity called evangelicalism. It is also our desire to be a church where people can find rest; moving at their own pace, having their questions answered about what it means to follow Jesus Christ.

Is FCC affiliated with any denomination?

The short answer is "Yes." FCC is affiliated with the National Association of Free Will Baptists; a denomination with roots going back to England but presently headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee. However, while affiliated with a denomination, FCC is not "denominationally driven." A person does not have to agree with every Free Will Baptist distinctive in order to be part of FCC. Our goal is to be interdenominational. As such, FCC is also affiliated with the Willow Creek Association, Purpose Driven Church, Emergent Village, and the Pioneer Network of Churches. Simply put, if you agree with the following theological essentials, you would be in agreement with FCC:

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
  • We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His bodily resurrection, in His Ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
  • We believe for the salvation of sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. We believe man is saved (and kept) by faith in Christ and by God's grace alone.
  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled and empowered to live a godly life.
  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

What does FCC offer for children?

Each week, FCC offers a time of "intergenerational worship." We believe the best way to teach children what it means to follow Christ, and worship Him, is through example. Thus, we encourage adults and children to worship together. After a time of worshiping God together, our children (grades Kindergarten through Fourth Grade) are dismissed for an age appropriate lesson. In addition, we offer a Nursery for newborns through age four. Our Community Groups are encouraged to include children in all they do, and periodically, we have special activities for children of all ages in order to build community and friendships.

What attire should I wear?

FCC does not have a dress code. You will feel comfortable and accepted regardless of what you choose to wear. Most people who attend FCC dress casually, and our pastor does not wear a tie.

What is the service like?

The goal of our weekly Celebration Gatherings is to worship the Lord in "spirit and in truth." In other words, when we gather as a group, we want to feel the presence of God ("spirit" - emotions) and hear a Word from God ("truth" - intellect). We try to avoid labels such as "traditional" and "contemporary." We would rather be known as a church that is real, relational, and relevant; and that includes how we approach God in worship. Our Celebration Gatherings involve music, Scripture readings, prayers, times of reflection, and an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the pastor's sermon. Furthermore, because our stated purpose is to build "community"; and because the words "community" and "communion" are closely related, FCC celebrates communion each week. The one thing that makes us one with each other is our oneness in Jesus Christ.

Where are you located and what time are your services?

Since we are a new church, the answers to those questions have not been finalized. Please check back weekly. Our plan is to hold our first Celebration Gathering on Sunday, July 1, 2007; time and place to be announced.

How do I become a member of FCC?

A person can become a member of FCC either by profession of faith and baptism (by immersion) or by transfer of letter from another church. We do require everyone to take a membership orientation class and fill out a membership application form before joining.

What do I do if my question has not been answered?

If you have more questions about FCC, or need to contact Pastor Kevin, he can be reached by calling 615-794-7452, or Email Kevin.
