We are back from Honduras! Our team survived the long trip and bus rides to and from Tegucigalpa. (There was a plane crash at the airport in Tegucigalpa in May and since then the airport has been closed to commercial airlines. As a result, we had to fly in and out of San Pedro Sula and take a 6 hour bus ride into Tegucigalpa.) We joined a team from Des Moine, Iowa (Gloria Dei Lutheran Church). There was a total of 27 of us who worked the brigades and another 12 who worked at the ranch.
We did four days of medical brigades through two different churches. On Monday and Tuesday we worked through Moviment Pentecostal Evangelistico Church (Pastor Angel Izaguirre). On Wednesday and Thursday we worked through Principe de Paz Church (Pastor Felipe Padilla). Throughout the week we ministered to 2,230 individuals. A break down of the week is below:
125 people saw the dentist.
1,195 people saw the nurses and or doctor.
403 people saw the eye doctor.
884 individuals and family units were spoken to about Jesus. Of those 884 individuals and family units,
there were 103 first time decisions for Christ; 24 rededications; 507 children who heard the gospel story and had their hair washed; 44 people rejected to receive Christ; and 206 people were already believers.
In addition to all this, our team also poured 4 concrete floors in homes were people were living on dirt floors.
It was a great week! Our church is already making plans to return next year. Right now the dates for the 2009 trip are June 20-27. If you would like to go, please contact
